About the Graduate School

From now on the IMPRS AGE and the CECAD Graduate School offer a joint PhD programme. We provide excellent education in the field of ageing and age-related diseases.

Our aim is to train a new generation of biomedical scientists, who can take on the diverse challenges of making fundamental scientific discoveries into the basic biology of ageing and translate them into im- provements in health and life for people as they grow older. To do this, we need to improve our un- derstanding of the underlying mechanisms that promote healthy ageing, and identify interventions and potential drug targets.

We offer first-class training in biological and medical disciplines with excellent research conditions and state-of-the-art technologies in an inter- national environment. The doctoral programme is completed by seminars and courses in ageing research as well as practical career development oppor- tunities. Our students receive a full scholarship for the duration of the programme. All communication and courses are conducted in English.

Key Features:

  • Three-year fully funded PhD fellowships
  • Excellent research environment for aging research
  • Interdisciplinary and structured PhD program in English
  • Intensive Support for international students

We and our partner organizations cover a broad range of expertise. Together, we want to under- stand exactly how the ageing process acts as a risk factor for multiple types of ageing-related dys- function and pathology. This will require expertise in biochemistry, cell biology, molecular genetics, genomics and bioinformatics, metabolism and metabolomics, endocrinology, demography, population genetics and the aetiology of ageing-related diseases.

"We offer our graduate students a great chance to achieve fulfilment in a vibrant scientific atmosphere!"

Linda Partridge,
Managing Director
