Develop your career in a vibrant atmosphere
Ageing research is still in its infancy. That makes it a fascinating and challenging field to work in. Do you think so, too, and would you like to contribute your ideas and scientific talent to our projects? Then we are looking forward to receiving your application!
Established in 2007, the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing is still a young institute - but it is growing fast. Within the developing life science cluster of our partner organizations in the Cologne/ Bonn area we pursue our research at the forefront of basic biomedical science. Ultimately, the MPI for Biology of Ageing will host about 350 employees (scientists, technical and administrative staff) and will have four departments as well as four Max Planck junior research groups.
Along with our aim to foster an interdisciplinary and international research environment, we have established the Cologne Graduate School of Ageing Research as a joint venture between the IMPRS AGE and the CECAD Graduate School. Our Graduate School offers PhD fellowships for a structured doctoral training in ageing research for classes starting in October each year.
Besides, we are always looking for excellent junior and senior scientists motivated in joining our international research community! Our working language is English. Please take a look at our open positions.
The Max Planck Society (MPG) was awarded the audit certificate of berufundfamilie Service GmbH and the non-profit-making Hertie Foundation for the fourth time in a row on 15 March 2016 (after 2006, 2009 and 2012). This award is placed under the patronage of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy.
The MPG deliberately capitalizes on a family-friendly human resources policy in order to continue being a TOP employer for both its existing and its potential new employees. Through a wide variety of offers in connection with equal opportunity and reconciliation of work and family life, such as e.g. cooperations with childcare facilities in the vicinity of workplaces or a Germany-wide family service, the MPG sets the course for the future and takes account of the demographic change.
We are consistently offering Post-Doc position for graduates interested in ageing research. Please take a look at our open positions.
If you want to pursue your doctoral/PhD degree in an international crowd of top-students, there are two routes of application. Our Graduate School annually offers up to 15 PhD positions, providing a structured, 3-year doctoral training programme for outstanding young researchers. The Graduate School online application platform for the fellowships starting in October 2017 will be available from October 2016 on. Besides the Graduate Programme, our groups are always looking for excellent PhD candidates, please take a look at our open positions.
We are also taking master / diploma students at any time. In case you are at this stage of your career, please contact the head of the group you are interested in directly. Read up on the work in our research labs and find out where you might fit in.
