Develop your career
in a vibrant athmosphere
Ageing research is still in its infancy. That makes it a fascinating and challenging field to work in. Do you think so, too, and would you like to contribute your ideas and scientific talent to our projects? Then we look forward to receiving your application!
We are a young institute. Not only because the average age of our staff members is around 33 years, but also, because our official "birthday" was only in 2007, when the Max Planck Society decided that the new Institute for Biology of Ageing would be established in Cologne and thus become a driving motor within the developing life science cluster in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). Together with our partner organizations we pursue our research at the forefront of basic biomedical science.
While we are a young institute, we are also growing fast. Already, our international team comprises more than 150 men and women from almost 30 countries. Ultimately, the Max Planck Instiute for Biology of Ageing will host about 350 employes (scientists, technical and administrative staff) and will have four departments as well as four Max Planck junior research groups. Our working language is English.

If you want to pursue your doctoral/PhD degree in an international crowd of top-students, find out about the IMPRS AGE. With our graduate school we offer an excellent three-year training programme for young researchers in the field of ageing and age-related diseases.
Master / Diploma
We are also taking master / diploma students at any time. In case you are at this stage of your career, please contact the head of the group you are interested in directly. Read up on the work in our research labs and find out where you might fit in.
