Scientific research is expensive. Although the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing is supported by the Max Planck Society - and thus by tax payers' money - we are actively raising third-party funding to support our projects and our other activities.

These research grants are generally available to any scientist and are awarded by German funding agencies such as the DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) or the BMBF (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung) as well as the EU. We have been actively and very successfully applying for research grants. Find out about our third-party funded projects.

However, donations from private persons and companies are also a very important funding source for our research and other activities. With your support you can provide still greater freedom for our scientists where public funding reaches its limits.

So how can you get involved?
