Max-Planck-Azubipreis for animal caretaker Rita Bork

Max Planck Director Thomas Langer congratulates Rita Bork on winning the Azubi prize.

Best exam of the year

Rita Bork, trainee at the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing, receives this year's Max Planck Society (MPG) Trainee Award for her outstanding achievements in the training profession of animal caretaker in the fields of research and clinic. She is also selected as one of the best exam candidates of the Chambers of Industry and commerce in Nordrhine Westphalia in 2019.

"Rita is the best trainee we have ever had - she really deserves this award," said Dr. Bettina Bertalan, Head of Comparative Biology, who is responsible for training animal caretakers. "She is not only outstanding in her academic achievements, but was also very committed. She has always taken care of problems and was available as a contact person for her colleagues. I am particularly pleased that we were able to keep Rita at our institute even after completing her training", says Bertalan. "I am very happy about the award as well as about the upcoming honour of the IHK, because it is an acknowledgment of my performance", says Rita Bork.

Since 2007, the Max Planck Society (MPG) has awarded the annual Trainee Award for outstanding achievements in vocational training. With this award, the MPG honors not only the outstanding professional and academic performance during training, but also the personal development and social commitment of the trainees.

In 2018, it was awarded the Max Planck Society's “Ausbilderpreis” for outstanding achievements in vocational training for the second time. The animal caretaker trainer team consists of 7 trainers who supervise 1 to 3 trainees per year. Interested applicants are welcome to contact Bettina Bertalan.
