In Germany, every tenth woman suffers from breast cancer. More than 70,000 times a year, doctors currently diagnose breast cancer in one woman and more than 17,000 women die of it every year. It is diagnosed mainly in women over the age of 40, but younger women are also affected.
Although it is the most common, breast cancer is generally not the most dangerous type of cancer in women. If diagnosed and treated in time, most diseases are curable.
The Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing is involved in raising awareness of breast cancer. With an awareness campaign on October 19, 2018, we want to draw the attention of our employees to this topic. Furthermore, the occupational health management supports the initiative at the institute.
The best prevention is the early detection!
