I will describe here the pervasive deployment of neuropeptides as signaling molecules acting throughout the entire nervous system of the nematode C. elegans. I will discuss the developmental and evolutionary plasticity of neuropeptide usage and describe examples for their deployment in controlling animal behavior, as well as animal lifespan.
