AGE ART: Science meets music with Stanislav Anischenko
Covid-19 and the Aged Immune System
On August 20th, 2021, we had the privilege of hosting two luminaries on to our virtual stage, double bassist, Stanislav Anischenko and Professor of Immune Cell Biology, Prof. Janet Lord.
Principle chair of the WDR orchestra and soloist, bassist Anischenko performed transcriptions as well as pieces written specifically for the double bass. Anischenko is known for his fiery virtuosity and style, earning accolades that places him amongst classical music greats.
For our scientific lecture, Prof. Janet Lord delivered a fascinating talk entitled, "What COVID-19 has taught us about the aged immune system". Prof. Lord’s work focuses on the innate immune system, the body’s main defense mechanism against infection and how the puissance and capacity of the system is affected by age-related determinants.
