The lecture series "AGE ART" combines art and science. It offers a unique collaboration between outstanding artists and scientists. It combines scientific lectures with musical performances, art exhibitions, theatre and film.

On this evening, we have the privilege of welcoming three renowned personalities to our stage: the soprano Christiane Oelze, accompanied by Christoph Maria Wagner on the piano, and Professor Nir Barzilai with his lecture “How to die young at a very old age”.

Nir Barzilai, M. D.

Dr. Nir Barzilai is a renowned researcher in the field of aging. His research focuses on the biology and genetics of aging. He leads the Institute for Aging Research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and has conducted several significant research projects, including the Longevity Genes Project (LGP) and LonGenity. These projects aim to identify genetic factors that influence aging and understand their impact on human life.

Christiane Oelze

Christiane Oelze is a renowned German soprano with over 35 years of concert experience. She has worked with top orchestras and conductors worldwide, including the Berlin Philharmonic and Sir Simon Rattle. Oelze has performed at prestigious festivals and opera houses, including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and the Opéra National de Paris. She is known for her interpretations of Mozart and works of Classical Modernism, and has also championed the music of composers who were persecuted by the Nazis.

Christoph Maria Wagner

Christoph Maria Wagner is a German composer, conductor, and pianist who has taught at the Cologne Music Academy since 1995. His work includes over 60 compositions in various genres and ensembles, which have been performed at festivals such as the Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music and the International Bodensee Festival. Wagner is known for his innovative approach to composition and has received critical acclaim for his work, including a 4-star rating from the music magazine Le monde de la musique. He has also worked as a conductor and pianist, collaborating with ensembles such as the Ensemble Modern and the Young German Philharmonic.
